Chapter 3: AS A TOOL OF REVENGE AGAINST SATAN

TOOL OF REVENGE AGAINST SATAN And I will put enmity (open hostility) Between you and the woman, And between your seed (offspring) and her Seed; He shall [fatally] bruise your head, And you shall [only] bruise His heel. GEN. 3:15 AMP

Mar arriage was God’s grand plan to subdue Lany opposition against the purpose of God for man on earth. In Genesis 1:28, we read, that God blessed Adam and Eve and said “… unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion …” (KJV).

Why Subdue?

The word, subdue means to conquer, subjugate or bring into subjection. How could God use this word when Eden – a peaceful place was without sin and evil at the time? “Subdue dominion …” suggest that some kind of resistance and rebellion would surface, in an attempt to threaten man’s domain on earth. In other words, God knew that there was going to be an opposition, and that was why He said to Adam, “subdue, that is, ‘conquer that opposition that would dare challenge my authority in your sphere of rulership; and bring it under your subjection. and have

After Adam had committed high treason against God by ceding his authority to Satan, God declared that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent. It is good to note that God drew a battle-line between man and the devil; and more interestingly between the product (what comes out) of marriage and the devil’s agents or cohorts. Satan’s attempt to sway man in the Garden in order to wrest dominion from him, was a fallout of his failed coup d’état which happened in heaven. Nevertheless, that plan wouldn’t be! God made sure it didn’t see the light of the day. The scripture below revealed Satan’s secret, when he said in his heart;

“I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, will be like the Most High” –Isaiah 14:13-14.

The Issue of Dominion and Divine Enmity

“I will put enmity Between you (Satan) and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed.”

This was a divine declaration, engaging all the human race on earth in a serious conflict against God’s enemy – Satan. This would run throughout all ages to the close of time. The word enmity can only be fully understood much more from the spiritual standpoint than from the physical.

The first thing Lucifer (Satan) did when he was in charge – leading the worship orchestra in heaven was to use his enormous influence and position to deceitfully gain the acceptance of one-third of God’s angels. This he did in a bid to gain enough support for his desperate move against God. When that failed, and he with all of the angels who compromised were cast down from heaven by God, man became their target. Had God not intervened immediately when Satan swayed Adam and Eve, by injecting His divine wisdom putting enmity between man and Satan, Satan,

Would have succeeded in making the whole human race to become united with him in his opposition against God. Although he deceived man, God in His sovereignty had already provided the remedy – Jesus, …the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world Rev 13:8 KJV. Halleluiah!

When it became obvious to Satan that man was going to be the object of God’s love and mercy, (even after Adam fell), his enmity became kindled all the more against all humans. This is the only major reason he resorted to doing all he could to continue to defile man, in order to use him to dishonor God. In spite of anything that can happen in the way of rebellion against God’s preordained purpose for man, God’s Word must still come to pass. Man must still have that dominion God commanded him to have.

Since God’s Word is powerful, precise and infallible, even though the first man representing the human race failed, He (God) would make sure that man is raised to fulfil that mandate of dominion.

This was why God declared that the seed of the woman will crush the head of the serpent (the devil). Halleluiah, I feel so excited at this point to shout it out loud, that Christ was that promised seed for our Perpetual victory. All who supposedly failed to have dominion in Adam because of his disobedience, do not just have hope in the risen Christ, but have become enabled (Greek, dunatós) to repossess divine authority to overcome Satan and his seeds. The two main institutions that Satan has long targeted for attack (and intends to run down more than anything else) are the family and the church.

1. The Family

   Satan’s grand plan against homes is to attack marriages, break the agreement between husbands and wives through strife, in order to forestall the raising up of godly children. “Happy is the man that bath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. –Psalms 127:5 KJV. He knows that godly children are dangerous threats to His kingdom. God seeks for godly descendants, that’s why He makes husband and wife become one. (See Malachi 2:15).

2. The Church

   Jesus, in His conquest over Satan and his entire kingdom of darkness, declared that, “I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18 KJV). Through the church, Jesus is using His children (believers), who Are arrows in His quiver to pull down the frontiers of Satan and expand His kingdom on earth,

We must have a divine understanding that God created the marriage institution:

1. To give Him pleasure-Rev. 4:11. And
2. As a tool of revenge to deal with the devil and his cohorts.

Jesus’ obedience to God and Satan’s defeat have given us the impetus to use our obedience in His Word and His name to revenge all disobedience and opposition of the kingdom of darkness. We are to put all satanic troubles (strongholds) to rest through our own obedience to the Word! (See 2 Corinthians 10:6).

BRUISING THE HEEL OF CHRIST VS. GAPING THE HEAD OF SATAN

I have explained earlier, how Satan’s intended plan against God had failed in heaven and how he was thrown out and cast down to earth; but still with his wicked ambition he sneaked into the Garden of Eden using the serpent to deceive Eve and in turn got Adam to disobey God. He succeeded in taking Adam’s position of authority as the god of the earth and he (Satan) became the god of this world (See 2 Corinthians 4:4). Although he succeeded in a Way to turn the heart of man from God and gained authority over the earth, the good news was that he failed to divide the marriage between Adam and Eve. In regards to Adam and Eve’s disobedience that led to the fallen state of man, God declared to Satan; “And I will put enmity Between you (Satan) and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He (Christ)shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel” –Genesis 3:15.

Bruising of Christ’s heel and bruising of Satan’s head are never the same. The latter remains very fatal. In verse fourteen, God cursed and degraded the serpent (Satan). When He said, “I will put enmity Between you (Satan) and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed,” it was intended to cause Satan to be detested or abhorred by all humankind-the descendants of Adam.

The First Declaration of the Gospel

This verse (Genesis 3:15) explains the implicit plan of God’s salvation for mankind through His Son, Jesus Christ. It holds the first announcement of the gospel. It predicted the ultimate victory of man and the church, through the last Adam (Christ) over Satan. It specifically mentioned the spiritual conflict between the seed of the woman (i.e., the Lord Jesus Christ) and the seed of the serpent (i.e., Satan and his followers).

You Will Bruise His Heel. This prophetically covers Satan’s repeated plans to oppose and attempt to overthrow Christ throughout His ministry on earth, most especially after Jesus’s resurrection. This also includes the ongoing attacks and violence against the church throughout the whole world.

He Will Bruise Your Head. This is the prediction of

Satan’s defeat, beginning from when Christ was carrying out His ministry till the time of His death and resurrection. The damaging effects of the teachings of Christ and the miracles He performed during His days, were the reason for the hatred that was exhibited by the religious rulers of his days, and numerous others, who spoke against His good deeds. The Holy Spirit is presently working through the church to continue to subjugate Satan’s kingdom until after the rapture, when he will finally be cast into the lake of fire.

The bruising of the heel of Christ, is not as deadly as the bruising of Satan’s head! Bruising of Satan’s head is more devastating, and we see this explained in Hebrew language as gaping of Satan’s head; that is, to blow open, render his wisdom completely futile. The Amplified version uses the word fatal, to explain how devastating Christ would brutalize the head of Satan. Some other translations of the Bible actually state; “He (Jesus) will crush your head, and you (Satan) will bruise His heel”. The Cross, undoubtedly and unpredictably became the symbol where Satan’s wisdom is eternally being rendered foolish, since Christ’s resurrection. The gospel is the message of the seed of the woman (Jesus) and His kingdom.

Enjoy the Blessings of Dominion

Why we need to revenge all disobedience is not far-fetched from the reason why God told man to subdue and have dominion. When man knows how to take dominion, he will certainly live long to enjoy the benefits of the created things over which God has made him the ruler (god) on earth. By way of emphasis for instance, we read how God advised His people through Moses, that their enjoyment of all that He had reserved for them in Canaan land would be short-lived, if they do not completely subdue or destroy their enemies, even though they had succeeded to possess it.

But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell Numbers 33:55 KJV.

What I am trying to say, is that our enjoyment of God’s abundant blessings is relative to our obedience to God. This truth of subduing our enemies and enjoying our inheritance, cuts across the scriptures right from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Below, are few of the scriptures the Holy Spirit has shown me to buttress this revelation.

1. In Genesis, after Satan deceived man, God said The seed of the woman will crush the head of the serpent (Gen. 3:15);
2. In Genesis 22:17, God said to Abraham, “…and your descendants will possess the gate of their enemies”;
3. Rebecca’s sisters prayed for Rebecca when she was being given away in marriage to Isaac; “. be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those who hate them” –Genesis 24:60 KJV;
4. In Psalm 110:1-3 KJV, King David prophetically declared of Christ and His church: “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord (Christ) shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion (The church): rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.,…”;
5. It was also declared in Psalm 127:5, “Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate” and;
6. Finally, in Matthew 16:18, Jesus our Lord declared, “…I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Others from the lips of Jesus are found in:
7. Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, …..”
8. Matthew 18:18 KJV, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
9. Mark 16:17 KJV “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; …”
10. Matthew 28:18-19-“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore…”

In Romans 16:20, Paul declared, “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly”. Although, Satan is still going about like a roaring lion today and putting people in bondage through sin and ignorance, yet his defeat by Christ is constantly being witnessed every day, throughout

The whole world. The miraculous provision of diverse miracles and financial blessings for God’s God’s grace in the area of deliverance, healings, children are authentic proof of Satan’s defeat. Oh!

How excited believers should really be those who are partakers of Christ’s inheritance and involved in the ongoing plan of God’s revenge! We have been commanded in the might of His conquest to:

1. Have dominion over the works of God’s creation;
2. Subdue Satan, His archenemy; and
3. Enjoy the blessings of our inheritance all in His name.

If Christ’s first coming was prophesied and he did come; and His resurrection also prophesied and it did happen, then His second coming is imminent. But guess what! For us to enter into our full inheritance at the full revelation of His coming kingdom, the great dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan with other enemies to the church shall be bound and “cast into the lake of fire and brimstone …. And shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Halleluiah! (See Revelation 20:1-10).

The Rod of God’s Strength

The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies – Psalms 110:2 KJV.

In the light of this scripture, Zion represents the church. In Hebrews 12:22-23, we are told that we (believers in Christ) … have come to Mount Zion …. 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, ….” One word that describes the relationship of Christ as a husband or head of the church, is MARRIAGE! One of the functions of the church (Zion) according to the prophecy of David in this Messianic Psalm “… rule thou in the midst of thine enemies” (110:2), clearly shows that it has its roots in Genesis 3:15. There God declared that Jesus, the Seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent (devil). This holds the truth, that MARRIAGE WAS CREATED AS A TOOL OF REVENGE to deal with Satan! This is true of the church too. Through Jesus, the church would teach Satan and his cohorts lots of lessons. (See Ephesians 3:10). The church of God on earth is the battle axe of the Lord – an awesome as an army with banners (Songs 6:10); equipped with God’s divine authority to subdue Satan and his cohorts. This awesome army with banners is the church, the bride of Christ.

CONCLUSION on TOOL OF REVENGE AGAINST SATAN

– Fight the Devil, Not Your Spouse!

Love, faith and unity in the knowledge of God’s Word,

Are inevitable if couples must succeed to subdue the devil and his cohorts; and keep them defeated. Christian couples who fight each other lack spiritual knowledge. We have been told, that “… we wrestle not again flesh and blood but against principalities and powers,…” (Ephesians 6:12 KJV).

As long as “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal…” (2 Cor. 10:4), husbands and wives will be wasting their time fighting each other! How Christian couples with enough superior power would fight themselves, while their invincible enemies, Satan and his cohorts who instigate their fight would stand and be making a mockery of them, brings tears to my eyes! We are meant to tear the strongholds of the enemies of marriage down and live perpetually a victorious life far above them. Those who want their marriages to win over

Satan must:

• LOVE GOD TOGETHER,
• FIGHT SATAN TOGETHER THROUGH THE WORserminaD OF GOD,
• FIGHT FOR EACH OTHER and,
• FIGHT FOR THEIR MARRIAGE!
